I went down to the nature reserve today, not really expecting to see much as I was sure there would have been a lot of disturbance. but another couple out wildlife watching told me they had seen a Grass Snake swimming out in the pond. We were discussing this when it turned up again and we managed to get a few shots. It made my day, and it just goes to show that you can never be sure of what you will see.
Hi Colin. What a moment to have witnessed at close quarters and to have captured it with such skill. Great images. PS: Did the grass snake seem to be swimming with a purpose or simply 'enjoying' taking to the water, perhaps to cool down a little? – Tim
ReplyDeleteIt was definitely swimming with purpose, the other couple said it had gone out towards a Moorhens nest on a platform in the middle of the pond, but the Moorhen seemed to chase it off.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos, but glad the moorhen chased it off.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant photos, right time right place.
