Out and about today and the signs of Autumn are everywhere, all the trees and bushes are overflowing with fruit and berries. Also the leaves are starting to change colour.
To me there is a distinct feeling of summer being over. I found loads of Rosehips, Blackberries & Elderberries etc, also I found an old Apple tree growing amongst all the Brambles & Hawthorn which was overflowing with Apples. I will have to watch some of the old Hugh Fearnley Whassisname programmes and come up with some good recipes to try out.
I like the pictures of the acorns, blackberries and rosehips very much, Colin. Summer really seems to be over, it has been quite cold today... Fortunately, August was warm and pleasant and next week an Indian summer is expected here so I hope that we will enjoy a few more sunny days. That will be probably the last word of the summer time...
ReplyDeleteThanks Petra. An Indian summer would be very welcome here as well.
ReplyDeleteCheers Colin.
If they are crab apples in your picture, you could send me some to add to the rowanberry jelly I am planning to make this coming week. I always this it's nice to see the fruits coming on the trees and along the hedgerows. Trouble is, winter is not long in following them (and it's been such a short, wet, summer this year).
ReplyDeleteColin, the pictures of the rosehips and acorns are splendid. So are the others but those two stood out. Yes, it's cool here and, although today is dry, it's very dark because of the heavy cloud. Keep snapping those colourful pictures to cheer us all up.
ReplyDeleteYes, very appetizing subjects there, Colin. I wish that I was better organized to do something with all this free fruit that's about..
